Music and Time Annotation << Back Gould’s Phenomenon in Aspect of Representation Esthetics Yu.A. Monastyrshyna G. Gould is one of the most mysterious and ambiguous figures in performing culture of the twentieth century. He defined in many respects the main tendencies in performance of our days. Therefore it is so important to understand what tendencies mean, and what their nature. Investigating works of the Canadian pianist, we need to enter new concept, namely: «a representation esthetics», because on our deep belief out of this esthetic system it is impossible to comprehend a Gould’s phenomenon really. G. Gould tries to show existence of work, its relevance and potentiality. The phenomenon of the execution accumulating round itself a set of interpretative fields results. Within «a representation esthetics» Gould shows us a phenomenon «the text unequal to itself». Investigating the text in reflections of different interpretative «mirrors», the pianist shows the huge amplitude of the musical text interpretation.
