Music and Time Annotation << Back Opera work «Wake» by Klaas de Vries E.V. Sanicheva The article goes on the Dutch composer Klaas de Vries, his opera work «Wake» and the situation on contemporary music scene in the Netherlands as part of international music arena and many different influences coming from across musical Europe. Opera work «Wake» was an official commission given to Klaas de Vries by the Enschede municipality to be the commemoration of the accident. The article also brings to light the how it all has been made, the juxtaposition of many and many schools, influences and so-called «fashion» tendencies in contemporary music and society life as well as the activity of some significant composers and sound artists of our days. Next to this sort of different actions and happenings of all kinds the author of the article takes into focus the main line of contemporary music`s development both in Europe and worldwide. Also, the author draws the difficult and problematic line between the growth of electronic music`s importance and the question of author`s presence in contemporary academic music.
