Music for Flötenuhr J. Haydn: the Sounding Interior |

The article is devoted to insufficiently studied page of creative work of Joseph Haydn – music for mechanical organs (Flötenuhren). Plays of Haydn being analyzed in the genre aspect, that is characterized from the point of view of genre-communicative situation, institutional forms, applied and aesthetic functions, as well as specific topics and stylistics. During the study, the author examines the «mechanical» composition of three existing organs as complete cycles with their own logic of development, combined thanks to several music factors. We may define the main types, toposes, peculiar to music for Flötenuhr by J. Haydn. Also, the author points out to the heterogeneity of the musical material, which formed the basis of compositions for Flötenuhr, according to their Genesis. Some of the plays are specially created songs, that appeared to be the brand new musical material. Others are adaptations of previously written by Haydn. There are also plays, an example of so-called «reverse transcription» where the mechanical version becomes the original for composition created later. In conclusion of the article the author reveals the stylistic features of pieces for Flötenuhr, through the comparison of some examples of mechanical pieces-transpositions.
