Music and Time Annotation << Back On the Perception of the Expressive Possibilities of Academic Trumpet Performance in the Space of Musical Culture of the 20th–21st Centuries K.A. Grygoriev The article raises the problem of perception of the expressive possibilities of the academic art of playing the trumpet in solo concert performance in the world musical culture of the XX–XXI centuries. The author substantiates the relevance of the study by pointing out the incompleteness of the development of the art of playing wind instruments in modern musicology and performance theory, as well as the incompleteness of ideas in pedagogy regarding artistic tasks in teaching the art of playing the trumpet. Setting a goal to identify the main patterns in the transformation of composers’ ideas (mainly within European and Russian schools) about the expressive potential of the trumpet, the author, presenting the results of the analysis of repertoire evolution in the 20th–21st centuries, comes to a number of conclusions. First of all, he singles out as a basic set of stereotypes about the expressive possibilities of the trumpet, formed within the framework of the art of playing the trumpet and cornet in the classical-romantic era, which determine the parameters of the performance technique. Further, on the basis of a comparative analysis of samples of the golden fund of the repertoire, he comes to the conclusion that this complex remains the base throughout the entire historical period under study, despite the genre and style diversification. But at the same time, the new repertoire launches a trend towards not only expanding the variability of this complex by updating the timbre-articulation palette and the rhythmic-intonational thesaurus and new atypical techniques, but also gives grounds for a possible qualitative rethinking of the trumpet as a musical instrument that could lead to a total reconstruction performing schools.
