Music and Time Annotation << Back On one Melodic Phrase in the Works of F. Chopin D.E. Kopylov This article’s primary focus is a specific melodic configuration, first presented as a certain aesthetic and stylistic attribute in a number of pieces by Frederic Chopin. The author analyzes its tone-modal structure, dramaturgical and compositional functionality. Their stability allows for considering its tone constellation as a sort of a ‘piano autograph’ of the Polish composer. By tracing its implication in the pieces composed within various genres and created at each stage of the piano style evolution, the author of the article enhances the potential of a systematic study of Chopin’s work by both modern performers and musicologists.
