Music and Time Annotation << Back Experiment and Artistic Discovery in the Composer’s Work I.M. Krasilnikov The experiment, which plays an important role in the work of many composers, is aimed at making an artistic discovery. Withal, every experimenting-oriented composer understands the essence of this process in their own way. Someone puts form-making at the forefront (for example, in the field of tune, harmony, polyphony, texture, instrumentation, etc.), which allows you to refresh the musical sounding. Someone are more attracted to finding unusual ways to communicate with the public. Someone is trying to enrich academic traditions with new means of musical language. However, the experimental activity of a composer does not always lead to an artistic discovery, and the article offered to the reader is intended to help improve the effectiveness of this search. For this purpose, on the basis of highlighting the key achievements of musical activity in the context of its historical development (content, communication, perfection of form), the essence of the composer’s work, the criteria for its value, the features of reflecting the author’s personality and the specifics of musical instruments are determined. The proposed interpretation of this concept allows us to build a connection between the direction of the composer’s experiment and the prospect of making an artistic discovery, as well as to orient it in some relevant areas of creative search in the digital age.
