Music and Time Annotation << Back Monoopera «Toast» in the context of Nikolai Morozov’s work G.V. Zadneprovskaya The monoopera «Toast» is a composition by Nikolai Alexandrovich Morozov. His creative thinking is characterized by such qualities as theatricality, fantasy, the search for bright original ideas and their extraordinary embodiment. Compositions written in different genres are united by these common features of the composer's artistic manner. A special part of his work is music for theatrical productions of various drama theaters in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk and other Russian cities. This sphere of creative activity of Morozov had an unconditional influence on his other works. From the works written for different compositions presented in this article, such key features of the composer's creative style as ingenuity, improvisation, and a special attitude to the organization of space aimed at achieving unusual acoustic and visual effects become apparent. They are also characteristic of the mono-opera «Toast», theatrical specificity of which is considered in the context of all the works of Morozov. The basis of the libretto by A. Averchenko’s story «New Year's toast» modeled the main satirical figurative line of the opera. Its musical dramaturgy reflects the peculiarities of the mono-opera: the structure of a single scene, the monological type of expression, at the same time accompanied by the inclusion of off-stage characters, to which the Soloist periodically refers. An important role in «Toast» is played by the conductor and orchestra students who take an active part in the stage action.
