Dadash-zade The article analyzes the role of the founder of the professional music of Azerbaijan, Uzeyir Hajibeyov, in the formation of the national style of the Azerbaijan composers’ school. The author examines some of the socio-historical, cultural, and musicalaesthetic aspects of this complicated period. The artistic and modeling significance of the original genre of Azerbaijan oral tradition - the art of epic narrators – ashygs, in this creative process is emphasized particularly. A review of U. Hajibeyov’s compositional and theoretical heritage allows affirming that he was able to discover certain cognitive models in epic art. U. Hajibeyov’s works, and especially his opera “Koroglu”, prove demonstratively that he, having analyzed deeply the essence of the basic archetypes of epic art, re-semanticized them in a new historical and cultural context. It should be also noted that, he realized this most difficult task fully armed with composing skills developed based on European experience. In this sense, the historical merit of U. Hajibeyov was the achievement of the coherence principle within a single artistic system, i.e. coordinated functioning in time and space of two different phenomenons- epic art and compositional creativity.
