Music and Time Annotation << Back 245 years since the birthday of Pierre Rode (1774–1830) P.B. Podmazova The article is dedicated to P. Rode – the great French violinist, who made an important contribution to the development of violin art at the turn of the XVIII–XIX centuries. Rode continuing in his work the traditions of the style of J.-B. Viotti, developed a sentimental-lyrical direction in art. Together with R. Kreutzer and P. Baillot he participated in the creation of the famous «Méthode de Violon» of the Paris Conservatory. Нis violin concertos became an example of the genre of the French solo violin concerto. Rode’s works have repeatedly included N. Paganini in his concert repertoire. Italian virtuoso created concert D-dur op. 6 on the model of the First concert d-moll Rode. The world famous work of Rode «24 Caprices en form d’études» op. 22 collected the basic performing techniques accumulated by French violin art by the beginning of the XIX century, serving as an important stage in the development of the genre of the concert etude in the works of composers of the Romantic era.
