Govar The subject of this article is to consider the genre of the piano miniature not only from the point of view of its dominant properties, but also from the standpoint of some socio-cultural features of the information age. Fragmentation as a way of comprehending the world seems to be a very characteristic feature of the modern cultural space, which there is an academic musical art. The article considers the possibility of more active use of the Russian piano miniature of the 20th century in modern art practice, which is to a large extent limited to the reproduction of masterpieces of the classical and romantic tradition. Possessing a compact form, a miniature, in a laconic form reflecting the artistic and style installations of a number of composers of the last century, seems to be one of the actual genres that are consonant with the present. These qualities allow this personally-oriented and at the same time experimental genre to become a communicative mediator between the public and art of the XX - early XXI centuries.
