Music and Time Annotation << Back Tatyana Smirnova's Creativity and «Style of Epoch» E.Y. Vasilchenko In the article creativity of the Russian modern composer Tatyana Georgievna Smirnova is considered in the context of the "style of epoch" problem. T.G. Smirnova is the author of over five hundred works in various genres. The master features a bright musical style, individual and deeply national style based on tradition and expressed through modern means of composition. The works of Smirnova are analyzed taking into account the style trends of Russian music of the second half of the 20th century. Revealed the organic connection of the composer with such key development trends in Russian music of this period, as an appeal to the Russian and spiritual culture, neosteam and nekanonicheskogo trends. Revealed great interest of T.G. Smirnova to foreign cultural influences. In General the problem is considered from two sides – in chronological slice in the aspect of the prevailing in twentieth century music styles and trends. This view of research helps to reveal the specificity of the composer's life and place it in the context of historical time.
