Three-part Concertos by Nikolay Diletsky: Problems of Attribution, Genre and Style |
N.Yu. Plotnikova
The text, dealing with Nikolay Diletsky’s previously unknown three-part concertos, is accompanied by the first publication of their scores. The author examines the works’ manuscript sources, dating from the late 17th and the first half of the 18th century, in the context of Russian musical culture of the Baroque era. A special attention is paid to the works’ verbal texts, paraphrasing the canon «On the Crucifixion of Christ and the Holy Virgin Weeping» from the Triodion, as well as to the genre and stylistic peculiarities of the concertos.
Keywords: Nikolay Diletsky, Russian musical baroque, partesny style, three-part concertos, genre.
