Horn and Composers |
A.G. Gilev
In this article an author is investigating the evolution of French horns, from a natural «wood horn» to a modern chromatic musical instrument. The author is researching the questions of historical development of French horns as an orchestra and solo instrument. The article, based on well-known historical facts, emphasizes the events that had big influence on further technical and intonational development of the musical instrument. The author reveals how crystalized horn’s idioms (gold horn steps) interfuse into different fields of music composition and performing arts. The article describes the establishment and development of sole concert repertoire for French horns. The author searches out the link between composers and French horn players, analyzing historical and bibliographical facts about lives of distinguished musicians. The article identifies the types of composers who create music for French horns and some types of composing art.
