Music and Time Annotation << Back Transcendental Etudes for Piano, of S.M. Lyapunov: the Story of Creation and the Author`s Interpretation of the Cycle O.V. Onegina The article, based on archival materials, is dedicated to one of the most important piano opus of the well-known Russian composer S.M. Lyapunov. Twelve studies of higher difficulties ор. 11, dedicated to the memory of F. Liszt, rightfully occupy a special place among large-scale virtuoso concert works of Lyapunov. The studies varied in content and remarkable use almost the entire range of technical tools found in the works of romantic composers. Among the most distinctive features of Lyapunov studies the composer's contemporaries identified the significance of artistic ideas and the scale of their implementation, compositional skills, reliance on the best samples of Russian and Western European romantic music, the national character of the thematic material, the splendor of the virtuoso style. Archival research undertaken by the author of the article, allowed to gradually reconstruct the course of the work on the cycle and discover the unique information about the author's interpretation of studies.
