Music and Time Annotation << Back Musical Life of Irkutsk in the Period of the Great Patriotic War I.A. Kolokolnikov Many musical events took place during the Great Patriotic War in Irkutsk, one of the oldest cultural centers of Siberia, are described in this article for the first time. In the period, which studied in this research, Irkutsk was a place of evacuation of many musicians. It is an important detail that in Irkutsk there were 2 theaters of opera and ballet, which were evacuated from Kharkov and Kiev. The most significant is fact is that the evacuated musicians arrived in the city which had the high level of musical culture. That’s why they could embody many interesting ideas in Irkutsk. It is possible to draw a conclusion that, despite all burdens of a wartime, interregional cooperation of musicians yielded the most valuable results.
