Music and Time Annotation << Back Professional Singing Traditions of Ancient Egypt on Archeological Data. The Singing Tradition Smo of Ancient Egypt is during the Epoch of Ancient and Average Empires (2686–1650 BC) V.V. Melyushchuk In the article for the first time in musicology the ancient Egyptian singing Smo is considered as the independent professional singing tradition having centuries-old history. As the main sources of data images and serve an inscription of private tombs, doleful стел, and also texts of papyruses. Highlights the initial stage of formation and development professional singing tradition Smo in the Epoch of the Old and Middle kingdoms (2686–1650 BC). On the basis of the studied materials distinctive principles of this tradition are defined formed under the influence of Ancient Egyptian rites. Its connection with the concrete dancing genres is demonstrated. Authentic vocal and dancing terminology is entered. Is investigated the designation of the performer activity of the representatives of the singing tradition Smo. Is given about them the information both professional and personal nature.
