Music and Time Annotation << Back The Purpose of Music in the Funeral Rites M. Muzychenko The paper contains the analysis of the musical component of the civic, folklore, church and military funeral ceremonies and covers the influence of different kinds of music on a grieving person. Also some problems of the psychology of grief are considered so there are facts to proof that the methods of the music therapy can be successfully used in the civic funeral rite. The folkloric and psychological findings confirm the healing influence of the music on people in crisis. In the paper the author’s elaboration of musical scenario of the funeral ceremony and corresponding recommendations are given. In particular there are some experimental data to represent the statistics of influence of the music on a person.
