Argentinean Tango: Some History |

The article is devoted to the history of formation and evolution of tango dance style of Argentine Creole music, from its inception in the middle of the XIXth century up to now. Along with other genres of Latin American popular music, such as samba, rumba and bossa nova, tango became the artistic heritage of world importance. Along with the waltz, tango was absolutely irreplaceable genre in musical life with the general society during many decades of the ХХth century. A noticeable role tango genre gained in the works of Russian composers. Argentinean tango is the result of mixing a variety of traditions, committed on the American continent. Its genetic sources were Cuban «Habanera», the Andalusian tango and Argentine milonga. This article describes the evolution of tango choreography from a single to pair dances, its spiritual content as an expression of deep human feelings of nostalgia, love. There can be seen changes in the character of the tango as its penetration in Europe, the expansion of the tango orchestras, emersion of new vocal genre varieties. Particular attention is paid to the disclosure of the spiritual content of the tango, its ability to express deep human feelings. Tango is a clear indication of the identity of Latin music.
