The Role of Circulatio in the Concept of Masquerade
in the Musical by A.L. Webber «The Phantom of the Opera» |

In the article the action of musical-rhetorical figures in A.L. Webber’s musical «The Phantom of the Opera» and the influence of them on an embodiment of the concept of a masquerade in this musical on the example of musical-rhetorical figure circulatio is considered. It has been found that the is musical-rhetorical figure circulatio symbolises a vital circle in this musical and plays an important role in the creation of a masquerade concept that representing human life in the form of an original masquerade on which people are for various reasons compelled to be masked and hide his feelings. The structure carries out the emotional-expressive, graphic, comments, structural-composition functions, which directed on strengthening of emotional influence of the lyric text and creation of semantic subtext. Through circulatio the masquerade idea has development throughout all composition, makes it a conceptual core of the musical.
